Legislative Update February 8, 2010

February 8, 2010

-Many of you know I have authored a ban on texting while driving bill. I had a good friend send me this cartoon, which I thought summed up the issue.

We are still working to get this bill passed, so stay tuned.

-I enjoyed having the Tattnall Square 8th grade class at the Capitol on Wednesday. You can see a picture of the group on my website at www.allenpeake.com

-I co-sponsored a bill this week, HB 995, that requires school systems to not begin the school year until after Labor Day. Shoot me a note with what you think about this idea, for or against.

-We continue to fight some challenges on getting additional funding for the Music and Sports Halls of Fame, but we are united as a local delegation (a surprise, I know!) to accomplishing this goal.

-Consolidation of Macon and Bibb County remains a top priority for me. The process is moving along, but still appears to be a long shot. But I am not giving up on pulling our community together.

I am proud to serve as your State Representative and hope you will always contact me with issues that are important to you.
